A simple tip for your guests

Aim to arrive in Marrakech the day before the first event. Flight schedules vary by season, so check the airport and travel dates before booking. Marrakech Menara airport is RAK.

1. Nonstop flights to Marrakech by departure airport

Flight times are indicative and depend on direction and route. Ticket departure/arrival times use local time zones. This is not an exhaustive list of all flights to Marrakech.

2. New York: Newark is not JFK

The published nonstop service between New York and Marrakech uses Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), New Jersey, with United Airlines during its scheduled season. No JFK–Marrakech nonstop service appears in the schedules reviewed. Travellers from JFK can consider connecting services through Casablanca, Lisbon, Madrid or Paris.

For long-haul guests, arrival reliability, airline connection protections and time to rest may matter more than the lowest advertised fare. Review JFK connection options.

3. What about Lyon, Nantes, Toulouse, Bordeaux and beyond?

Additional direct services appear in airline schedules from French and European cities, but not necessarily on every day or in every season. Guests should confirm their actual travel dates before a couple describes a route as available in their wedding information.

Prioritise a departure airport that is convenient to reach, an arrival time before the first wedding activity, and a flight that can connect with group transfers. A one-stop itinerary can sometimes work better than an awkward overnight arrival.

Explore published Marrakech routes.

4. Bringing 40, 60 or 100 wedding guests to Marrakech

The challenge is not just a delayed flight: it is managing different arrival times, luggage, airport pickups and accommodation locations. A private arrivals list and a named transport coordinator make a real difference.

  • Before travel: collect origin, airport, airline, flight number, arrival date, number of bags and any relevant access requirements. Keep personal data restricted.
  • One week before: group arrivals into pickup windows, confirm drivers and share exact meeting points.
  • Two days before: message each guest their driver arrangements and a working local contact number.
  • On arrival day: monitor affected flights and keep a fallback for significant delays.
Practical planning buffer:

For a Friday welcome dinner, a Thursday arrival usually creates more resilience than travelling on Friday. For long-haul guests and key ceremony participants, consider an extra day.

5. Compare the full journey cost, not just the ticket

Consider checked luggage, the journey to the departure airport (Beauvais, Stansted and Luton require extra planning), airport transfer in Marrakech, late arrival charges and an extra hotel night where appropriate. Wedding attire may have airline-specific cabin and garment-bag restrictions.

6. Passports, entry requirements and visas

Entry rules depend on each guest's nationality and travel documents, not on whether they fly from London, Paris or New York. Some travellers may require visas or electronic authorisations. Everyone should check before booking.

7. Sample message to send wedding guests

“Our wedding will take place in Marrakech. Your arrival airport is Marrakech Menara (RAK). Direct flights are available from several European cities but schedules vary by date. Please check your departure airport carefully and aim to arrive the day before our first event. Send us your flight number and arrival date and time so we can arrange transfers. Please also check the Moroccan entry rules for your nationality.”

Frequently asked questions

Can guests fly nonstop from Paris to Marrakech?

Yes. Services appear from Orly, Charles de Gaulle and Beauvais with different airlines. Confirm the actual departure airport and schedule.

Are there nonstop London–Marrakech flights?

Yes, depending on airport and date, including Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Luton and Southend. Not every route operates daily.

Is there a direct flight from New York JFK?

Not in the schedules reviewed. The seasonal United nonstop service uses Newark (EWR). JFK travellers should compare connections.

Should all guests arrive on the same day?

Not necessarily. Staggered arrivals can work well as long as each guest has clear pickup information and key wedding participants travel with a buffer.

Do wedding guests need a Moroccan visa?

It depends on nationality and travel documents. Use official guidance rather than relying on blanket advice.
